Clemson approves Brownell's contract

Clemson's board of trustees approved a six-year contract worth $900,000 a year for new men's basketball coach Brad Brownell .

Brownell agreed to a six-year deal that would bring him $245,000 in salary and $655,000 in supplemental compensation. The former Wright State coach will also have an opportunity for incentive bonuses, but the school says those haven't been determined.

The agreement also calls for Clemson to pay a $25,000 buyout to Wright State.

Brownell was hired Tuesday to replace Oliver Purnell , who left the Tigers to coach DePaul. Purnell earned $1.3 million this past season, his seventh with Clemson.
