Jarius Wynn is signed by Dallas Cowboys

Jarius Wynn: A sixth-round pick in 2009 was cut by San Diego and signed by Dallas.

Jarius Wynn, a former Lincoln County Red Devils and Georgia Bulldogs star defensive end, has been signed by the Dallas Cowboys.

Wynn was cut by San Diego last week after appearing in the first five games for the Chargers.

A sixth-round pick by Green Bay in 2009, he has 28 career tackles in 48 games.

The Cowboys added Wynn after DeMarcus Ware sustained a right quadriceps injury last weekend against Washington.

COLTS: Even Peyton Manning felt that Indiana-polis could not pass up the opportunity to draft Andrew Luck.

Manning, a four-time NFL MVP who led Indianapolis to 11 postseason appearances and a Super Bowl championship, advised the Colts to select Luck with the No. 1 pick in the 2012 draft, team owner Jim Irsay said during an interview with USA Today Sports.

At the time of the conversation, Manning was recovering from fusion surgery on his neck and the Colts were attempting to rebound from a 2-14 season.

“(Manning) said, ‘You’ve got to take Andrew. You have to. You’re crazy if you don’t,’ ” Irsay told newspaper.

PACKERS: Wide receiver Randall Cobb is out for at least six weeks with a knee injury.

The team placed Cobb on injured reserve/designated for return.

The designation requires a player to miss at least six games. Cobb was hurt during the 19-17 win Sunday over the Ravens.

TEXANS: Quarterback Matt Schaub wasn’t initially aware that some fans at Reliant Stadium cheered his injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams.

But when made aware later, the situation disappointed him.

“I’d hate to think anyone out there, regardless of who was injured – on our team, on the visiting team, whatever the situation is – that people would be like that and act that way,” Schaub said. “There’s no place for that in this game and there just really isn’t.”

EAGLES: Quarterback Michael Vick practiced on a limited basis Tuesday, but there is no word on his status for Sunday’s game vs. Dallas.

Vick suffered a hamstring injury against the New York Giants two weeks ago and missed last Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay.

He threw passes on Tuesday, did some light jogging, and worked in individual drills for Philadelphia (3-3).

But he did the same last week, in preparation for the Buccaneers, only to skip the Eagles’ 31-20 victory.

REDSKINS: Needing to replace two key special teamers, the team signed free-agent linebacker Josh Hull and long snapper Kyle Nelson.

The Redskins also signed safety Trenton Robinson on Tuesday, while waiving safety Jordan Pugh and putting linebacker Bryan Kehl and long snapper Nick Sundberg on injured reserve.
