Jets to face Steelers without Darrelle Revis

The New York Jets will face the Pittsburgh Steelers’ speedy receivers without Darrelle Revis.

The All-Pro cornerback was ruled out Friday for the team’s game at Pittsburgh on Sunday with a concussion that left Revis “in a fog” after the injury occurred in the season opener against Buffalo.

Coach Rex Ryan said Revis was cleared for non-contact practice for the first time Friday, but will not travel to Pittsburgh with the team today.

STEELERS: Safety Troy Polamalu (calf) and linebacker James Harrison (knee) did not practice Friday and are questionable for Sunday’s game against the Jets.

BENGALS: Suffered a major blow to their defense when Thomas Howard was placed on injured reserve after tearing his ACL during practice on Thursday.

TEXANS: Defensive end Antonio Smith says he was fined $21,000 by the league for kicking Miami guard Richie Incognito during last week’s win over the Dolphins.

REDSKINS: Receiver Pierre Garcon remains hobbled with a sore right foot and will be a game-time decision Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.

TITANS: Running back Javon Ringer is wearing a device designed to draw infection from his left elbow and will keep it on until Monday to make sure he fully heals.

Ringer was hospitalized on Sept. 8 after the arm swelled.

He has no idea how the infection started, though doctors said a scratch likely became infected.

DOLPHINS: Running back Daniel Thomas was ruled out of Sunday’s game against Oakland because of a concussion, leaving the team with little experience behind starter Reggie Bush.
