Arizona Cardinals still undecided at quarterback

Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt says he’s not quite ready to name a starting quarterback but indicates a decision could come soon.

John Skelton and Kevin Kolb have been competing for the job, and neither has been outstanding.

Skelton started Thursday night’s 32-27 loss at Tennessee and completed 4 of 10 passes for 41 yards and was intercepted once. Kolb saw more extensive action and was 17 of 22 for 156 yards, including his first TD pass of the preseason. But he was intercepted twice, with one of them returned for a touchdown.

GIANTS: Cornerback Prince Amukamara was carted off the field in the first quarter of a preseason game against the Chicago Bears on Friday night after hurting his right leg making a tackle against receiver Brandon Marshall.

The Giants said Amukamara, who had trouble putting weight on his leg, had an X-ray of his lower leg that was negative.

The Giants’ first-round draft last year, Amukamara missed the opening part of last season after breaking his foot in training camp. He took over a starting spot this season after Terrell Thomas aggravated a knee injury that sidelined him last season.

Amukamara was in the news this week after a teammate tweeted a videotape of him being thrown into an ice tub at training camp by defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul.
