Matthew Stafford's status uncertain after leg injury

Quarterback Matt Stafford limped off the field after he was rolled up on during the Detroit Lions’ final play in Sunday’s loss to Atlanta.

Coach Jim Schwartz said the team’s medical staff would look at his right ankle and knee, but didn’t have an immediate prognosis after Sunday’s game.

“We’ll see where he’s at next week,” Schwartz said. “He had to buy time on that play and he ended taking a hit on that play.”

Stafford, a former Georgia star, rolled out to his left on the play and shortly after releasing the ball Falcons middle linebacker Curtis Lofton fell on his right leg. Stafford then limped off the field.

• The Lions kept teammate Jerome Harrison in their thoughts Sunday after the running back left the team because of a brain tumor.

Cornerback Chris Houston confirmed after the game that Harrison has had surgery for a brain tumor.

Houston says he hopes to visit his teammate once he’s able to have more guests, and linebacker DeAndre Levy was hoping to find out more about how Harrison was doing.

SAINTS: For the first time as an NFL head coach, Sean Payton spent a game upstairs in the booth.

New Orleans’ home game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night marks the first time Payton has coached since breaking his left leg a week ago.

Payton spent part of the evening in the training room receiving daily treatment and then made an appearance on field level before taking an elevator eight levels up shortly before kickoff.

Payton was in surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee and a fractured tibia on Monday.

BROWNS: Wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi and tight end Benjamin Watson, both former Georgia players, were also lost to head injuries in their win over Seattle.

Massaquoi and Watson were both injured in the closing minutes of the first half.

REDSKINS: Receiver Santana Moss and running back Tim Hightower were injured in Sunday’s game against Carolina.

Moss broke a bone in his left hand in the first half after pulling in two catches for 17 yards in the opening quarter.

Hightower hurt his left knee when it buckled during a 4-yard carry in the third quarter.

VIKINGS: Wide receiver Percy Harvin left the game against Green Bay on Sunday with a rib injury that has bothered him for the past few weeks.

The Vikings have had to limit Harvin’s plays over the past two weeks while he has been dealing with the injury, which first occurred in training camp.
