COLUMBIA — Octavious Morgan scored on a 2-yard run in overtime as Greenwood won the Class AAAA Division II state championship with a 31-24 victory over Northwestern on Saturday.
Morgan scored on fourth down for the Eagles (15-0) on the opening possession in overtime. Northwestern was unable to move the ball when it took over at the 10-yard line and its fourth-down pass fell incomplete.
Lathomas Long forced the overtime when he converted a two-point conversion with a minute remaining for the Trojans (12-3), after Dupree Hart had scored on a 7-yard pass from Mason Rudolph.
Evin Sims rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns and Morgan added 85 yards and two scores as Greenwood won its first state championship since 2006. It lost in the finals the past two years.
Rudolph completed 24 of 37 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown in the losing effort.

GAFFNEY 34, DUTCH FORK 14
In Columbia, Shaq Davidson rushed for two touchdowns and threw for two more to lead Gaffney to its record 16th state championship with a victory over Dutch Fork.
The championship was the Indians’ first since 2006.
Davidson opened the scoring with a 50-yard run on Gaffney’s third offensive play. He added a 19-yard run later in the first quarter as the Indians (12-3) scored 17 first-quarter points.
He finished with 105 yards rushing and was 7 of 10 for 153 yards with scoring passes of 44 yards to O’Bryant Davidson and 38 yards to Eddie Studyvance.
Trey Gregg ran for 148 yards and a touchdown for Dutch Fork (11-4).
The Silver Foxes were making their first championship game appearance and had four turnovers, all in the first half when Gaffney jumped to a 24-7 lead.
