Lakeside crushes rival Greenbrier



PLAY OF THE GAME: After an interception by cornerback Stephen Houzah, Lakeside junior Jalen Harrison broke containment for a 23-yard touchdown run on the Panthers opening play from scrimmage. Playing off the momentum of Harrison’s touchdown, Lakeside scored 28 first-half points.

STAR OF THE GAME: Houzah, a junior, had a pair of interceptions, including a 105-yard return for a touchdown with 10:44 left in the fourth quarter.

WHY LAKESIDE WON: Using an array of backs, five different Panthers rushed for touchdowns, including Harrison, Joshua JonesJonathan EdwardsAndrew Studstill and Nick Patterson.

WHY GREENBRIER LOST: It struggled to move the ball offensively, gaining just 24 total yards (16 rushing, eight passing) in the opening half.

QUOTABLE: “I’m definitely excited about this win,” Lakeside coach Jarrett Troxler said. “I learned a long time ago to appreciate every victory, but with that being said, we have a huge game next week at Jones County and we gotta have a great week of practice if we plan on beating them.”
