Predators win first-round playoff game

PLAY OF THE GAME: Southside Christian was trailing 14-0 but driving deep in Fox Creek territory in the second quarter when Marty Williams stripped the ball from Colby Boggs. Two plays later, Williams connected with C.J. Williams on a 69-yard pass to put Fox Creek up 21-0.

STAR OF THE GAME: Marty Williams rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 200 yards and three more touchdowns in the Predators’ first-round playoff win.

WHY FOX CREEK WON: The Predators (9-2) were clicking on offense early and scored enough points to hold on after Marty Williams was taken from the field by ambulance after an injury with 4:20 left in the third quarter. Team officials said Williams appeared to have suffered a neck stinger but should be OK.

WHY SOUTHSIDE CHRISTIAN LOST: The Sabres (7-4) could not capitalize in the red zone until too late.
