Taylor remains in good shape in Q School

In La Quinta, Calif., Evans resident Vaughn Taylor remains in good shape at the halfway mark of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament.

Taylor shot his third consecutive round in the 60s – he had 3-under-par 69 on Friday – and is tied for fourth place at PGA West. He’s at 15-under 201, or three shots behind leader Meen Whee Kim.

The top 25 finishers and ties from the 172 starters will earn PGA Tour playing privileges, or tour cards, for the 2013 season.

Aiken’s Kevin Kisner and former Augusta State golfer Patrick Reed made moves Friday to try to get into the running to finish in the top 25.

Kisner shot 66 and is tied for 84th place and Reed had 68, placing him in a tie for 98th.

Of the other locals, Stephen Poole (72 on Friday) and Scott Parel (73) are tied for 162nd place and Scott Brown (73) is tied for 169th.

While the top 25 finishers and ties will earn tour cards, the next 50 will earn Web.com Tour cards for 2013 and the remainder receive conditional status on the
Web.com Tour.
