LAS VEGAS — Jonas Blixt birdied six of the last seven holes Saturday for a 5-under 66 and a share of the lead with Ryan Moore and Brendon de Jonge in the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
Moore had a bogey-free 65, and de Jonge birdied four of the last five for a 66 to match Blixt at 19-under 194 in the Fall Series opener at TPC Summerlin.
“Today was just a good solid day,” Moore said. “I didn’t do anything amazing, but at the same time, I just did what I’ve been doing this whole week, just put it in play, gave myself a bunch of wedges, 9-irons into greens, and was able to convert a bunch of my reasonable birdie chances.”
Jimmy Walker and Tim Herron were five strokes back.
John Daly had a 15-over 86 to drop to last among the players who made the cut. He had a quadruple bogey, a triple bogey and two double bogeys in his worst round of the season.
CHAMPIONS TOUR: In Cary, N.C., Steve Pate and Fred Funk shot 3-under-par 69s to share the second-round lead at 8 under in the Champions Tour’s SAS Championship.
Jay Don Blake and Andrew Magee are a stroke behind. They shot 70.
Former Augustan Allen Doyle has shot 68-75–143 and is tied for 31st. Augusta native Larry Mize has rounds of 70-75–145 and is tied for 55th place.
EUROPEAN TOUR: In St. Andrews, Scotland, Branden Grace shot 3-under-par 69 at Carnoustie to take a four-stroke lead heading into the final round of the Dunhill Links Championship.
The South African, who shot 60 in the first round, is 20-under 196.
Thorbjorn Olesen of Denmark is second after 68 at Kingsbarns. Swedes Frederik Andersson Hed (66) and Alexander Noren (65) are tied forsecond, one shot behind Olesen.
Former Augusta State golfer Oliver Wilson shot 69 at St. Andrews and is 11 shots back. Scott Jamieson, another former Jaguar, is 14 shots off the lead.
LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR: In Saint-Jean-De-Luz, France, Diana Luna fired a 2-under 68 to take a three-stroke lead in the Lacoste Ladies Open de France.
Anne-Lise Caudal, Carlota Ciganda and Stacey Keating are tied for second.
WEB.COM TOUR: In Potomac, Md., Josh Persons, who got into the field through open qualifying, carries a one-shot lead in the Neediest Kids Championship.
Persons shot 1-under-par 69 and is at 8-under 202 for the tournament.
Augusta’s Scott Parel shot 73 and is tied for 46th place at 214.
