Legends of Golf led by Brad Bryant and Tom Purtzer



SAVANNAH, Ga. — Brad Bryant and Tom Purtzer teamed up for 12-under-par 60 to take the first round lead at the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf championship Friday.

The score was one shot off the course record set in 2008 by Tom Watson and Andy North at the best-ball event at The Club at Savannah Harbor.

“It was a great day,” Bryant said. “We played well together. This course just kind of matches our games. There were holes out there where we both had birdie putts.”

Michael Allen and David Frost, Kenny Perry and Russ Cochran, Jeff Sluman and Brad Faxon, Bruce Fleisher and Tom Jenkins all were two strokes back at 62.

Fred Couples teamed with Jay Haas for 63. Also at 63 were Andy Bean and Chien Soon Lu and Joey Sindelar and John Cook.


EUROPEAN TOUR: In Jakarta, Indonesia, defending champion Lee Westwood, the No. 3-ranked player in the world, shot 4-under-par 68 to extend his lead in the Indonesian Masters.

Westwood, who led by three shots after an opening 65, now leads by five. He’s at 11-under 133.

Kieran Pratt (65) is in second place at 6-under overall, followed by Shiv Kapur (71) another stroke back.

Zaw Moe was 8-under through 12 when the second round was suspended due to rain and lightning. It will be completed this morning.


LPGA TOUR: In Kapolei, Hawaii, Ai Miyazato shot 2-under-par 70 and will carry a three-shot lead into today’s final round of the LPGA Lotte Championship.

Miyazato is at 10-under 206. The golfers are 209 are Cristie Kerr (71 on Friday) and Azahara Munoz (73).

Top-ranked Yani Tseng had 69 and is four shots behind Miyazato.


EUROPEAN/ONEASIA TOURS: In Tianjin, China, Gary Boyd and Jean-Baptiste Gonnet share the second-round lead of the China Open after shooting 5-under-par 67s to move to 11 under.

Branden Grace had 67 and is one shot behind the co-leaders. Defending champion Nicolas Colsaerts is two off the lead.

Former Augusta State standout Oliver Wilson was tied for ninth after his 67.
