Wie rides 28 on first nine to top

ROGERS, Ark. --- Michelle Wie shot 7-under-par 64 on Saturday -- playing her first nine holes in 7-under 28 -- to take the second-round lead in the Northwest Arkansas Championship.


Wie, trying for her second consecutive victory, had the lowest nine-hole score on the LPGA Tour this year. She finished at 10-under, three strokes ahead of Juli Inkster (66), Yani Tseng (68) and Na Yeon Choi (68).

Wie started her round on No. 10 and birdied five of her first seven holes.

CHAMPIONS TOUR: In Incheon, South Korea, Fred Funk shot 5-under-par 67 for a two-stroke lead after two rounds at the Posco E&C Songdo Championship.

Funk stands at 8-under 136.

EUROPEAN TOUR: In Hilversum, Netherlands, PGA Championship winner Martin Kaymer shot 4-under-par 66 to take a one-stroke lead over Fabrizio Zanotti and Christian Nilsson after the third round of the KLM Open.

NATIONWIDE TOUR: In Sandy Utah, Bradley Illes shot 8-under-par 63 to grab a one-stroke lead over Michael Putnam at the Utah Championship.

Illes is at 15-under 198.

Augusta's Scott Parel shot 72 and is tied for 20th at 208.

NGA/HOOTERS TOUR: In Elgin, S.C., Will Claxton, of Swainsboro, Ga., shot 5-under-par 67 and is tied for fifth after three rounds of the Woodcreek Classic.

Claxton is at 13-under 203, two strokes behind co-leaders Michael Thompson and Manuel Villegas, who both shot 66.

North Augusta's Kyle Bradley shot 66 and is tied for 10th at 204.

Former USC Aiken golfer Roberto Diaz had 68 and is tied for 21st at 206.

Aiken's Alex Hamilton shot 73 and is tied for 35th at 208.
