Augusta State golfers tie for ninth

In Dallas, Alex Wennstam posted a top-10 finish as Augusta State closed out the fall portion of its 2012-13 season by finishing tied for ninth in the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate.


Wennstam tied for 10th place individually after rounds of 71-68-71 for 3-under 210.

The Jaguars, who were in sixth place – nine shots off the lead – after rounds of 285 and 281, closed with 290 to finish 14 shots behind the winner, Oklahoma State.

In addition to Wennstam’s 71, the Jaguars counted another 71 by Cody Shafer, 72 by Meechai Padung and 76 by Robin Petersson. Derek Chang’s 77 was the non-counting score.

Individually, Shafer (72-70-71–213) tied for 21st place, Padung (74-70-72–216) tied for 35th place and both Chang (69-76-77–222) and Petersson (73-73-76–222) tied for 62nd place.
