One local player has been dismissed from the Georgia Southern football team and another has been suspended for one game.
Freshman running back Chris Jordan, who rushed for 2,000 yards for Thomson in 2012, has been dismissed from the team, according to a statement released Friday. Jordan was named first team all-area for Georgia as a running back his senior season.
Eagles coach Jeff Monken gave no reason for Jordan’s dismissal.
Monken also announced in the statement that kicker Connor Tierney, who previously played for Aquinas, will serve a one-game suspension today against Chattanooga for a violation of team rules.
While at Aquinas, Tierney made seven field goals in three state playoff games back in 2011. He also won a 2012 Class A state title in soccer at Aquinas.
Jordan had a rushing attempt in two of the Eagles’ three games this season, running for 28 yards and a touchdown on nine attempts.
Tierney has made 14 extra points this season.
