EAST LANSING, Mich. — Kennedy Meeks scored 15 points to lead five players in double figures as North Carolina beat top-ranked Michigan State 79-65 on Wednesday night in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Brice Johnson added 14, Marcus Paige and Nate Britt had 13 each and J.P. Tokoto scored 12 for the Tar Heels (5-2). Tokoto also had 10 rebounds.
Tar Heels coach Roy Williams improved to 7-0 vs. the Spartans.
Gary Harris led Michigan State (7-1) with 17 points.
NO. 5 OHIO STATE 76, MARYLAND 60
In Columbus, Ohio, LaQuinton Ross scored 17 of his 20 points in the first half, hitting his first four 3-pointers, to lead Ohio State (7-0) to an early lead and a victory over Maryland (5-3) in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Former Xavier guard Dez Wells had 19 points for Maryland.
NO. 8 WISCONSIN 48, VIRGINIA 38
In Charlottesville, Va., Josh Gasser scored 11 points and Wisconsin (9-0) won a defensive struggle against Virginia (7-2) in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
The Badgers extended their best start since 1993-94 by limiting Virginia to 23 percent shooting and won going away despite shooting only 29 percent.
WAKE FOREST 72, TULANE 57
In Winston-Salem, N.C., Coron Williams came off the bench to score 18 points and Wake Forest (7-2) pulled away from Tulane (4-5) in the second half.
NORTH CAROLINA STATE 69, NORTHWESTERN 48
In Raleigh, N.C., T.J. Warren had 22 points and eight rebounds as North Carolina State (5-2) beat Northwestern (4-5) in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Ralston Turner scored 13 points, Jordan Vandenberg added 12 and Lennard Freeman had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolfpack.
PURDUE 88, BOSTON COLLEGE 67
In Indianapolis, Terone Johnson scored a season-high 18 points, Ronnie Johnson added 15 and Kendall Stephens finished with 11, leading Purdue (7-2) past Boston College (3-5) in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
TEXAS A&M 74, HOUSTON 57
In College Station, Texas, Jamal Jones scored 21 points on seven 3-pointers, and Kourtney Roberson added 14 points as Texas A&M (7-2) defeated Houston (6-3).
ALABAMA 76, NORTH FLORIDA 48
In Tuscaloosa, Ala., Levi Randolph led four players in double figures with 20 points as Alabama (4-3) beat North Florida (5-5).
Nick Jacobs had 13 points, Jimmie Taylor 12 and Trevor Releford 10 for the Tide.
GEORGIA SOUTHERN 75, BREWTON PARKER 66
In Statesboro, Ga., Jelani Hewitt scored 26 points and Tre Bussey added 21 as Georgia Southern (4-5) defeated Brewton Parker.
