FREEPORT, Bahamas — Meighan Simmons scored 31 points, including eight 3-pointers, to lead No. 3 Tennessee to a 76-67 victory over Virginia on Thursday in the opening game of the Junkanoo Jam.
Simmons, who hadn’t scored more than 14 points in a game this season, finished two short of her career high.
Tennessee (6-0) got off to another slow start and trailed by four at the half before taking over.
Ataira Franklin scored 19 of her 25 points in the first half to lead Virginia (3-3).

In St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Tricia Liston scored 22 points and Elizabeth Williams added 18 to help Duke (6-0) beat Xavier (2-3) in the Paradise Jam.
Williams also had eight rebounds and four blocks for the Blue Devils.

In Cancun, Mexico, freshman Diamond DeShields scored a career-high 24 points as North Carolina (5-1) beat Arkansas State (4-2).
Freshman Allisha Gray, a former Washington County standout, had 12 points, three rebounds, a steal and a block in 19 minutes for the Tar Heels.

In St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Tori Scott scored a career-high 19 and Karla Gilbert added 18 points and 14 rebounds as unbeaten Texas A&M (4-0) defeated Memphis (3-3) in the Paradise Jam.
SYRACUSE 75, TEXAS 66
In St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Brianna Butler led four players in double figures as Syracuse (6-0) beat Texas (3-2) in the Paradise Jam.
Brittney Sykes added 17, La’Shay Taft 15 and Rachel Coffey 13 for the Orange.
BOSTON COLLEGE 75, UNC WILMINGTON 54
In Cancun, Mexico, Kristen Doherty scored 13 points to lead a balanced attack as Boston College (3-2) beat UNC Wilmington (1-5) in the Cancun Challenge.
Kat Cooper added 12 and Kelly Hughes had 11 for the Eagles.
