Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel to announce deicision on NFL before bowl

Johnny Manziel will announce before Texas A&M’s bowl game whether he will enter the 2014 NFL Draft, Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin said Friday on ESPN Radio’s SVP & Russillo.

Texas A&M concludes its regular season Nov. 30 at Missouri, and the earliest bowl affiliated with the SEC is Dec. 30.

GEORGIA: The Bulldogs got all they could handle from Auburn defensive end Dee Ford last week.

Kentucky, tonight’s opponent, has a pair of rushers coming off the edge that the Bulldogs will have to contend with in junior defensive ends Alvin Dupree and Za’Darius Smith.

Dupree is fifth in the SEC with seven sacks and Smith is tied with Georgia’s Ray Drew for seventh with six.

“I’ve always liked (Dupree),” Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said. “An athletic kid, made plays his first two years that we played.”

“Dupree’s a Georgia kid, so he’s going to be excited about coming home,” Georgia offensive line coach Will Friend said of the Wilkinson County product.

NORTH CAROLINA: The Tar Heels are on the verge of completing a remarkable comeback.

North Carolina (5-5) can turn its miserable start into bowl eligibility today with a nonconference victory over Old Dominion (8-3).

The Tar Heels have reeled off four consecutive wins on the strength of a defense that has forced more turnovers and an offense that has continued to click despite a season-ending injury to senior quarterback Bryn Renner.

WEST GEORGIA: Hired Will Hall away from West Alabama to be its new coach.

Hall led West Alabama to back-to-back Gulf South Conference championships, and he is a two-time coach of the year in the NCAA Division II conference.

West Georgia athletics director Daryl Dickey calls Hall one of the brightest young stars in the game.

Dickey was serving as both head coach and AD but gave up coaching at the end of the season.

West Alabama has named Desmond Lindsey as interim coach. Lindsey worked the last three seasons as assistant head coach under Hall.
