Sun Belt teams haven't rolled over against SEC

Louisiana-Monroe quarterback Kolton Browning nearly led his team to an upset of Auburn after the Warhawks stunned Arkansas.

Sun Belt Conference. Louisiana-Monroe owns a win over Arkansas and almost knocked off Auburn. Western Kentucky defeated Kentucky and Troy nearly upset Mississippi State. If the Southeastern Conference ever expands again, it might want to look here.

Houston. The Cougars, never a program known to feature a shut-down defense, have allowed 30 or more points in each of their three losses this season. Houston is 0-3 after going 13-1 last season.

Four of the top seven spots in the top 25 are owned by SEC teams (No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Louisiana State University, No. 5 Georgia and No. 7 South Carolina). Another two teams (No. 14 Florida and No. 23 Mississippi State) also are ranked.

1. Georgia (3-0, 1-0 Southeastern Conference). When the Bulldogs learn to play the first half the way they do in the second half, they’ll dominate.

2. South Carolina (3-0, 1-0 SEC). With all this talk of a quarterback controversy, Marcus Lattimore quietly has 235 rushing yards (4.9 average) and four touchdowns.

3. Clemson (3-0, 0-0 Atlantic Coast Conference). Tajh Boyd has completed 73 percent of his passes and is averaging 249 yards per game.

4. Georgia Tech (2-1, 0-1 ACC). Quarterback Tevin Washington already has 635 total yards.

Clemson: The Tigers face an undefeated Florida State squad that’s played three cupcakes. An upset could be ripe for the picking.

Georgia: Before the Bulldogs look ahead, they need to remember they barely avoided a shocker in Nashville, Tenn., last year.

Georgia Tech: The Yellow Jackets have lost their past three games against the Hurricanes, and they can ill afford another ACC defeat.

South Carolina: The Gamecocks are 0-2 all time against the Tigers. Look for South Carolina to reverse that trend.
