Lady Lions drop ninth in a row

It’s been almost a full season, but Paine’s young team still hasn’t adapted to its new home.

The Lady Lions struggled again on offense Thursday night and fell to Stillman, 58-39.

Paine lost its ninth in a row to fall to 3-17 overall, 3-13 in conference play. The Lady Lions haven’t won at their “home” – Richmond Academy – since late November, a seven-game losing streak in Augusta.

Against Stillman, Paine made four field goals in the first half and finishing shooting 22 percent from the field. Quandra Rodgers shot 3 for 16 from the field for a team-high 11 points.

“If you look at our percentages, we shoot way better on the road,” Lady Lions coach Willie Adams said.

Another reason for Paine’s shooting woes is the absence of freshman guard Kharyna Stanford, who is recovering from a high ankle sprain.

Stillman (15-5, 13-3), the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference leader, overcame 31 turnovers with its 44 percent shooting performance from the field.

Jamila McKinnis led the Lady Rams with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
