Connecticut women take down Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —Caroline Doty led
No. 3 Connecticut with 15 points and the Huskies’ defense helped hold off No. 20 Louisville 56-46 on Tuesday night.


Doty, scoreless in her last game against Rutgers, went 5 for 11 on 3-point attempts. Tiffany Hayes added nine points and 11 rebounds before fouling out for UConn (22-2, 10-1 Big East).

Shoni Schimmel led Louisville (17-7, 6-5) with 20 points and eight rebounds. Sara Hammond added 10 points.


In Syracuse, N.Y., Devereaux Peters had a season-high 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, Kayla McBride added 19 points for Notre Dame.

It was the 21st consecutive win for Notre Dame (24-1, 11-0 Big East) and improved its road record to 12-1 against Syracuse (15-10, 4-7), which lost at home by 41 points to No. 3 Connecticut two weeks ago.

Skylar Diggins, the Irish’s leading scorer, finished with 11 points, all in the second half.

Iasia Hemingway had 15 points and Kayla Alexander added 11 for Syracuse.
