Gerald Boston scored a game-high 30 points Sunday and the Bulldogs pulled away for a 76-61 upset win over No. 13 Lincoln Memorial in the second round of the Division II Tournament.
“We came to the tournament fresh,” Boston said. “That helped.”
Barton (23-7) swished three 3-pointers – one each by Chris Flemmings, Aaron Brown and Tristan Thomas – during a pivotal 11-0 run late in the first half to take a 32-21 lead.
Lincoln Memorial (25-6) pulled within 57-55 with 8:44 remaining. But Flemmings responded with a 3-pointer.
Then, Boston added consecutive jumpers, pushing the margin back to nine.
Boston shot 9 for 21 from the field and also went 10 for 10 from the free-throw line. He added seven assists and three boards.
Flemmings added 13 points for the Bulldogs, while Manley posted 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Chance Jones led Lincoln Memorial with 18 points, while Vincent Bailey added 12.
