Mario Jordan poured in a game-high 27 points as Paine (6-8, 4-3 SIAC) rolled over Fort Valley State (5-7, 3-4) 89-70 on Saturday in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.
The Lions shot 61.1 percent from the floor (33 of 54), led by Jordan, who was 9 of 10.
Allen Young scored 16 points and Kenny Fluellen chipped in with 12 for the Lions. Jerel Stephenson, a former Glenn Hills standout, posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Paine.
Former Richmond Academy standout Desmond Lofland had 11 points for Fort Valley State.
In the women’s game, former Butler star Ashley Watts exploded for 39 points, leading Paine (7-9, 5-2 SIAC) past Fort Valley State (9-7, 5-2), 95-86.
Watts made 12 of 27 shots from the field, including four 3-pointers, and the Lady Lions outscored the Wildcats 62-39 in the second half to overcome a 14-point halftime deficit and finish with their largest offensive output of the season.
Their previous high was 76 points in a win over Edward Waters on Dec. 15.
Kiara Johnson had 13 points and 18 rebounds for Paine, which has won five of six. Kiara Farley added 14 and BreAsia Burns had 11.
