Georgia Regents to play seven home contests before Christmas

The Georgia Regents men’s basketball team will play seven home basketball games before Christmas, according to today’s unveiling of the schedule by the school.

The Jaguars open the season with the Health Center Credit Union Challenge, Nov. 9-10, at Christenberry Fieldhouse. The school will face Southeast Region foe Tusculum at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9. The Jaguars then play host to Anderson at 4 p.m. the following day.

On Saturday, Nov. 30, the team plays host to Paine, with the women’s game starting at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s contest following at 7:30. The Jaguars open Peach Belt Conference play at home, Dec. 7, against Lander.

After posting a 14-13 campaign season in 2012-13, the Jaguars are looking to bounce back with a schedule that includes 16 home games. The team advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight three consecutive seasons, starting in 2008.

“We look forward to getting back to the point where we are a program whose résumé is not based on effort, but based on championships,” head coach Dip Metress said in the release.
