ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Taylor Ayers scored the go-ahead basket with 47 seconds left and the Augusta State women edged Flagler 71-68 on Saturday to win the Peach Belt Conference East Division outright.
The Lady Jaguars (21-5, 14-5) had clinched at least a share of the title with a victory over USC Aiken on Wednesday.
On Saturday, they tied the 1992-93 and 2003-04 teams for the most regular-season wins in school history.
Ayers, a former Laney standout, and Tanchelle Hollingsworth led Augusta State with 16 points each. Laci Schreiber added 10. Becky Newhouse had a team-high eight rebounds. Brittany White had seven assists and six steals.
Flagler’s Shorty Spencer led all scorers with 27 points. Jen Knurek added 22 points for the Saints (14-12, 10-9).
The Lady Jaguars will play North Georgia in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Lumpkin Center in Columbus, Ga.
NO. 21 USC AIKEN WOMEN 71, UNC PEMBROKE 56
In Pembroke, N.C., Porsha Martin scored 19 points and Daniela Tarailo added 18 as USC Aiken (20-6, 13-6 Peach Belt) closed out the regular season with a victory over UNC Pembroke (12-16, 6-13).
Martin added nine rebounds and four assists for the Lady Pacers, who have now won 20 or more games in six of the past seven seasons. Tarailo was 7 of 12 from the field, including four 3-pointers. Tiffani Moody finished with 13 rebounds, 12 points and a career-best seven blocks. She also had four assists.
The Lady Pacers will play host Columbus State at 7 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.
UNC PEMBROKE 102, USC AIKEN 91
In Pembroke, N.C., George Blakeney had 21 points and 15 rebounds as UNC Pembroke (21-8, 14-5) defeated Peach Belt regular-season champion USC Aiken (19-7, 15-4).
Paul Larsen led USC Aiken with 21 points. Santoine Butler, a former Cross Creek standout, added 17.
The Pacers will play Clayton State at 1 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament in Columbus, Ga.
