Jhonny Peralta on Tigers' roster for ALDS

Detroit's Jhonny Peralta, who served a suspension for ties to the Biogenesis clinic, is active but won't start tonight.

Jhonny Peralta is on the Detroit Tigers’ roster for the AL Division Series against the Oakland Athletics.

Just over a week ago, the All-Star shortstop completed his 50-game suspension for ties to the Biogenesis clinic accused of distributing performance-enhancing drugs.

Peralta isn’t in the starting lineup for Game 1 on Friday night in Oakland. The Tigers acquired shortstop Jose Iglesias from Boston before Peralta’s suspension took effect.

Peralta played left field after returning from his suspension. Andy Dirks will start in left in the opener of the best-of-five series.

BRAVES: Second baseman Dan Uggla, a three-time All-Star, was “disappointed and upset” to be left off the NL Division Series roster.

Uggla hit only .179 with 22 homers and ranked third in the NL with 171 strikeouts this season.

He said “it hurts” that the Braves “don’t think I can help the team win.”

“I’m not blind to my numbers, but at the same time I know what I’ve done my whole career and I still know what I’m capable of doing,” Uggla said Thursday. “So I was kind of blindsided by it.”

CARDINALS: Joe Kelly is going to start Game 3 of the NL Division Series for St. Louis.

Kelly was 10-5 with a 2.69 ERA and was perhaps the strongest link in the rotation for about a month-and-a-half.

PADRES: Pitcher Tyson Ross had surgery on his non-throwing shoulder and is expected to be OK for spring training. The 26-year-old Ross went 3-8 with a 3.17 ERA this season.

AUCTION: An online auction of 400 lots of Stan Musial memorabilia began Thursday through Heritage Auctions of Dallas. Bidding ends Nov. 7 through Nov. 9, depending on the lot. Musial died in January at age 92,.

On the inexpensive side, bidding starts at $1 for things such as autographed photos, Musial’s lighters and neckties and a collection of Christmas cards sent to Musial.

At the other end of the scale, bidding starts at $10,000 for four items: A game-worn jersey from 1948, one of three seasons Musial won the National League MVP; championship rings from the 2006 and 2011 seasons; and an autographed baseball from Babe Ruth, given to Musial when he was in the minor leagues in 1941.
