National League notes

BRAVES: Added middle infield depth for the final month of the regular season, acquiring Jack Wilson from the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night for a player to be named.

The Braves, who acquired outfielder Matt Diaz earlier Wednesday, also obtained cash from Seattle in the deal.

COURTS: Federal prosecutors dropped all the remaining charges against Barry Bonds on Wednesday, days after a judge upheld the slugger’s conviction on an obstruction of justice count.

GIANTS: With his club falling further out of playoff contention by the day, general manager Brian Sabean started making sweeping changes Wednesday.

Outfielder Aaron Rowand and infielder Miguel Tejada were designated for assignment by the defending World Series champions, who began the day trailing first-place Arizona by a season-high six games in the NL West race.

PHILLIES: Acquired right fielder John Bowker from the Pittsburgh Pirates for a player to be named or cash, adding a left-handed hitter to their bench.

METS: Plans to start 40-year-old pitcher Miguel Batista against the Marlins’ Clay Hensley in today’s game. Batista made his major league debut with the 1992 Pirates, whose bullpen coach was Terry Collins, now the Mets manager.
