RED SOX: Boston placed right-hander Daisuke Matsuzaka on the 60-day disabled list amid reports he has decided to have reconstructive elbow surgery that could sideline him for at least 12 months.
Boston also placed lefty reliever Rich Hill on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left elbow and called up lefty Tommy Hottovy from Triple-A Pawtucket.
TIGERS: Detroit third baseman Brandon Inge was placed on the disabled list with mononucleosis and catcher Omir Santos was recalled from Triple-A Toledo.
WHITE SOX: Paul Konerko was a late scratch from the lineup Friday night after having a minor medical procedure to dislodge a loose fragment in his left wrist.
RANGERS: Texas activated outfielder Julio Borbon from the disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.
The emergence of Endy Chavez , who is hitting over .400, pushed Borbon out of a roster spot.
ROYALS: Kansas City put right-hander Sean O'Sullivan on the 15-day DL with biceps tendinitis and recalled ex-Atlanta Brave Jesse Chavez from Triple-A Omaha.
INDIANS: Travis Hafner , who has been sidelined with an oblique injury, will swing off a batting tee today. He is likely two weeks away from resuming game activities.
