At a glance

The Big Idea: Tie Augusta and North Augusta together with a waterfront development that spans the Savannah River

Cost: $90 million private, $25 million public

Details: Convert the 5th Street bridge to a bicycle/pedestrian path that links downtown Augusta with Hamburg, create a fishing center on the Hamburg Brick Pond, install 200 riverfront residential units, create some retail space, incorporate the residential and retail development on the old Coca-Cola bottling plant and former Watermark sites on Reynolds Street

Time: 10 to 20 years

Champions: North Augusta and Augusta city
