Supreme Court Begins New Term
WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court is beginning a new term Monday with controversial topics that offer the court's conservative majority the chance to move aggressively to undo limits on campaign contributions, undermine claims of discrimination in housing and mortgage lending, and allow for more government-sanctioned prayer.

Gas Prices Drop
Retail gas prices fell across the nation last week. For many states, this week's average price for a gallon of regular gas is the lowest price of the year.

Georgia's state average of $3.23 reflects the lowest price of the year, according to AAA.

Smart Kids, But ...
LOS ANGELES — Education officials in the nation's second-largest school district are working to reboot a $1 billion plan to put an iPad in the hands of each of their 650,000 students after an embarrassing glitch emerged when the first round of tablets went out.

Instead of solving math problems or doing English homework, as administrators envisioned, more than 300 Los Angeles Unified School District students (such as two shown here) promptly cracked the security settings and started tweeting, posting to Facebook and playing video games.

Traffic Watch
Single lane closures will continue across the area this week, weather permitting.
Locations include:

• Georgia Highway from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday. The closure will take place in the north and southbound outside lanes at the I-520 overpass.
• Wrightsboro Road between Belair Road and Maddox Road; single lane closure for paving 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., through Friday.
Flagmen might be used so motorists are asked to use caution, reduce speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions.
The work is part of the $29.8 million federal project consisting of 4.7 miles of widening and reconstruction on Interstate 520/ Georgia Hwy. 415 beginning at Deans Bridge Road extending to Georgia Highway.
It includes construction of two bridges on I-520/SR 415 over Deans Bridge Road/US 1/SR 4.
