  OVERVIEW
Our Routes
The Augusta Chronicle looks at some of the people, places and communities in an ongoing series on important thoroughfares in the area. This month, we look at Whiskey Road, a 12.2-mile stretch that starts in the heart of Aiken and runs into unincorporated Aiken County.

Growth along Whiskey Road, one of the city's oldest roads according to historians, has been a measuring stick for Aiken's changes. The once sandy two lane road was not paved until 1939.

AIKEN - Some would consider it ironic that a Baptist church in Aiken is planning its expansion along a road called Whiskey.
