Kareem Manigault used his savings to help others. The Murphey Middle School sixth-grader used more than $100 in coin savings to purchase 11 boxes of canned goods to contribute to the school's food drive.

New school wins county softball title

Pine Hill Middle School's softball team already has bragging rights three months into the school year. Pine Hill beat Tutt Middle School on Oct. 19 to win the county championship. It's the first title for the school, which opened this year.
