Photo contest


The Georgia Press Association is holding a contest to support newspapers.

Georgia residents are invited to enter by taking a creative photograph with their local newspaper and post it on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #ReadLocalGA.

Choral concert

The Jessye Norman School of the Arts will hold Purses for a Purpose at 7 p.m. today at The Richmond on Greene, 725 Greene St.

Purses for a Purpose will feature a live celebrity auction and silent auction. Proceeds support the Jessye Norman School of the Arts, an after-school program.

Drive Baby Contest

Milton Reuben Chevrolet is looking for a baby to star in ads for its Drive ad campaign.

The contest , which will last a year, began March 1. Monthly prizes will be given, including a Fisher Price corvette. Parents are invited to upload pictures of their children ages 2 to 5 through the Your DriveBaby contest app on the Milton Reuben Superstore’s Facebook page. Once photos are uploaded, parents should get friends and family to like the image. The monthly grand prize will feature the child in the print and social media components of Milton Reuben’s ad campaign.

A Drive Baby will be chosen from the 12 monthly winners to receive a $1,000 scholarship and a role in Milton Reuben’s commercials in April 2015.

Tuesday’s Music

ETA 3 will perform the final Tuesday’s Music Live of the season March 18 at noon.

The woodwind trio from New York includes American flutist Chelsea Knox, Japanese pianist Tomoko Nakayama and Russian clarinetist Alexey Gorokholinsky.

The concert is free.

Lunch following the concert is catered by Crum’s on Central and is $10. Reservations are required for lunch and can be made online at or by callng the box office at (706) 722-3463.


Spring luncheon

The Augusta Council of Garden Clubs will hold its annual Spring Luncheon March 27 at the Augusta Country Club.

Registration, coffee and fellowship begins at 9:30 a.m. The program will begin at 10 a.m. There will be award presentations, silent auctions and door prizes.

Choral concert

The Augusta Choral Society will present Pipes, Brass & Drums at 7:30 p.m. March 29 at St. Paul’s Church.

The concert features a chorus, organ, brass, drums, cymbals and a timpani.
