Book Sale


The Friends of the Augusta Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The sale will be held in the lobby of the Augusta-Richmond County Library, 823 Telfair St.

Used books are also available for purchase during the Friends of the Augusta Library’s regular book shop hours: 2-4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2-6 p.m. Tuesday.

Lydia volunteers

The Lydia Project is holding a volunteer orientation at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 7 and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The nonprofit supports women who are battling cancer. Volunteers can work from home, at the agency or in the community.

Volunteers serve in a variety of roles, including writing notes of encouragement, cutting fabric, monogrammong and/or sewing totes, distributing totes and brochures, organizing collection drives, assisting with clerical duties, praying for the women Lydia serves and helping with fundraising.

Music on Tuesday

Tuesday’s Music Live will present pianist Thomas Pandolfi at noon Tuesday at St. Paul’s Church on Riverwalk.

A $10 catered lunch will follow the concert. Reservations are required. The concert is free.

T-shirt contest

Goodwill is looking for a T-shirt design that encompasses the history of dragon boat racing and Goodwill’s Dragon Boat Festival, an annual celebration of Asian culture in the Augusta area.

The T-shirts will be worn by more than 150 volunteers and staff members during the festival on May 3.

Design submissions will be accepted through March 30. The winner will receive an award, a T-shirt with the winning design and recognition at the festival.

Jingle Bell Walk

When Help Can’t Wait, a nonprofit that supports area nursing homes, will hold its inaugural Jingle Bell Walk on Dec. 14 beginning at the Ninth Street entrance to Riverwalk.

Registration will be held from noon to 1 p.m. the day of the walk, which will circle Riverwalk three times.

Entry fees are $20 for pre-registered walkers (includes T-shirt) and $25 on the day of the event.

Driven to Give

Bobby Jones Ford Lincoln is participating in Lincoln’s Driven to Give fundraiser Dec. 15.

For every person who test drives an eligible Lincoln at Augusta the dealership between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. that day, Lincoln will donate $20 to The Hale Foundation, which helps men with addictions.

NFL Ticket Raffle

The Augusta Mini Theatre, Inc., will raffle a pair of tickets to the Washington Redskins vs. Atlanta Falcons game at the Georgia Dome on Dec. 15.

Tickets are $5 each. The drawing will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Augusta Mini Theatre, 2548 Deans Bridge Road.
