Brett Gunn, a graduate assistant in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science, received the Excellence in Research Award at the Graduate Research Day held in March at Georgia Health Sciences University.
Gunn received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Augusta State University in 2010 and is scheduled to receive his master’s degree in kinesiology this year.
Augusta State University students made a repeat performance at the National Model United Nations Convention held in New York City. The delegation of 18 ASU students, for the second year, won an honorable mention award for overall performance.
In addition to this award, ASU students Brandon Arant, JuJu Sharma and Grant Reed also won outstanding position paper awards.
The delegation competed against more than 5,000 students from colleges and universities worldwide.
The trip was part of a Study Away course offered through the Study Abroad office. Before the conference, the ASU Model UN team was awarded a merit-based scholarship of $2,000 by the National Collegiate Conference Association. This award was one of only three awarded to a United States school and was the largest awarded by the association.
Carol Patel has made the dean’s list for the fall semester at Northeastern University.
