The Augusta Rotary Club will hold a fundraiser dinner benefiting the Dolly Parton Imagination Library at 6 p.m. today at the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center, 2 10th St.


David Dotson, the president of the library, will speak. Attire is business casual, and a cash bar is available. The cost for Augusta Rotary members and a guest is $35 each; additional guests are $50. The Sacred Heart Cultural Center, 1301 Greene St., will host BBQ & Jeans on Greene at 7:30 p.m. today. From 5 to 7 p.m. today, the center will host an opening reception for Ann Marie Dalis, whose works featuring Georgia’s Coastal Isles: Landscapes, Plants & Architecture, will be displayed through April 30.

The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art’s Sixth Annual Spring Artists’ Market and Festival opens Friday and runs through March 16. A wine-and-cheese opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday; the festival is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday; and the market runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except Saturday (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Sunday (closed). Works of the institute’s member artists will be displayed and available for purchase throughout the market. The institute is at 506 Telfair St.

Beulah Grove Community Resource Center, 1446 Lee Beard Way, and will host an event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to mark National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. The event will feature a spoken-word performance by poet laureate Brother Travis, three guest speakers, information tables, drawings and a light lunch. Groups are welcome.

The 2012 Miss Georgia Peach Scholarship Pageant will be held March 17 at the Fort Valley State University’s Pettigrew Center in Fort Valley, Ga.

Georgia girls ages 4-24 are eligible. Queens serve as official ambassadors of the Georgia Peach Festival.

Republican candidates for the 12th Congressional District will get six minutes each to present their platforms during a forum at 7 p.m. Monday.

The free event, sponsored by the West Augusta Alliance, will take place at the Warren Road Elementary gym, 311 Warren Road.
