Night of Beauty will help nonprofit

Erin Marty was impressed as a shopper and wanted to do something to help Shoppe 3130's mission.

"Just shopping there in general was a pleasure, and I love their clothing and their accessories," she said. "I learned just by shopping there that they are a nonprofit, and I believe in supporting my community and being a mother, I definitely want to support women so they can support their families."

Shoppe 3130 is a nonprofit organization that offers a life skills and job readiness program for area women and has a secondhand store by the same name, which acts as its fundraising arm.

The program is a rotating 12-week class that teaches women about work ethics, dressing for success, interview skills, résumé planning and job research.

Marty's business, Stella A Salon and Spa, in conjunction with Shoppe 3130, will have A Night of Beauty fashion show to benefit the nonprofit's program.

The show will feature a variety of styles and looks, she said.

"Our models are all different shapes, sizes and ages," she said. "It's really a night of celebrating femininity through different looks, ages and ethnicities."

There will also be items up for auction such as a massage, facial, complete Stella makeover and gift certificates to local businesses.

"It's going to be a truly lovely evening celebrating women, beautiful fashion and a beautiful cause," Marty said.
