Concert to help arts school

Augusta native and international opera star Jessye Norman will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 605 Reynolds St. The concert, Jessye Norman and Friends, is a benefit for the Jessye Norman School of the Arts, which is being renovated.

The concert will also feature performances by jazz great Wycliffe Gordon, an Augusta native; pianist Damien Sneed, also from Augusta; Broadway's Passing Strange star De'Adre Aziza, also a Georgia native; and Ms. Norman's long-time musical collaborator, Mark Markham. Tickets to the event and a champagne reception are $100. High school and college students can purchase concert-only tickets for $35.
