Softball game to benefit charity

Young Professionals of Augusta and Aiken Young Professionals will play a charity softball game Saturday.

The proceeds from the game will benefit the Kroc Center and Helping Hands Inc., an emergency home for abused, neglected and abandoned children.

"This game raises awareness about our young professional organizations, and it raises money for two important nonprofit organizations," said Sean Frantom, the social chairman for the Young Professionals of Augusta.

At the game, representatives from each organization will give a brief overview of their organization and have tables set up with additional information, he said. There will also be games for children and adults.

"It's going to be a fun-filled atmosphere and a good night out for everyone," he said.

Mr. Frantom said he hopes to have a large home crowd to cheer on the Augusta team.

"We're really excited about the game," he said. "I encourage the Augusta community to come out and cheer on the home team in hopes of us bringing home the trophy."

Young Professionals of Augusta is an organization for ages 21-40 who live, work or have an interest in the Augusta area. They focus on professional development, community outreach and social networking.
