Benefit auction


The Medical College of Georgia Night of White will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at The Pinnacle Club, 699 Broad St.

The event will feature a benefit dinner and a silent auction with more than $25,000 in bid items. Music will be provided by the band Flashback.

Support group

The Trinity Hospice Community Bereavement Center is offering an Early Arms Support Group for couples who have suffered the loss of their baby at any stage of pregnancy.

The support group will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Daniel Village, 2803 Wrightsboro Road, Suite 38.

Reservations are not necessary. There is no charge to participate.

Mission needs help

The Augusta Rescue Mission is in need of donations and volunteers for its Valentine's Day Banquet for the homeless and homebound. The meal will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at the mission, 520 Walker St.

The mission needs turkeys, green beans, rolls and homemade desserts. To volunteer or for more information, call the Augusta Rescue Mission at (706) 722-2058.

If you are homebound and need a Valentine's Day meal, call the mission to register for a delivery.

Welcome back

St. Mary's on the Hill Catholic Church has started a ministry to help inactive Catholics return to their faith.

Speakers will tell their stories of returning to the faith and offer participants a chance to discuss their faith journey.

Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays at St. Mary's Parish Hall on Monte Sano Avenue.

Pre-K information

The Child Care Resource and Referral Agency will have three information sessions for parents interested in learning more about Georgia's lottery funded Pre-K program. The sessions are from 10 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, and 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the Medical College of Georgia Child Care Resource and Referral Agency, 1054 Claussen Road, Suite 307.

Parents will learn about the eligibility and registration requirements, Georgia Pre-K standards, Pre-K activities and how to choose the best location for their child.

Free tutoring

The Augusta State University Literacy Center offers free tutoring in any subject for school-age children from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the center, 1401 Magnolia Drive.

Volunteers needed

The U.S. Disaster Relief Command is looking for volunteers from the Augusta area. The organization works with the American Red Cross, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and others in disaster situations.
