Babypalooza intended to baby future mothers

Expectant moms will be guests of honor at Babypalooza on Jan. 31.

"We are really excited about it. We are planning for this to be the first of an annual event," said Danielle Wong Moores, one of the planning committee members and the director of marketing and corporate communications for Xytex International, one of the event's sponsors.

Mrs. Moores said Babypalooza will be set up like a giant baby shower, with refreshments, games and door prizes, and the focus of the activities is on education.

Xytex International will be promoting information on its umbilical cord blood banking program. Safe Kids East Central, another sponsor, will have information on car seat safety and the proper use of child seats.

More than a dozen vendors will provide information on baby-related services, such as arranging for birth announcements and photographs.

Mrs. Moores said a massage therapist should also be on hand.

The first 100 moms-to-be will receive a gift bag.

The event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the grand ballroom at the Doubletree Hotel, 2651 Perimeter Parkway.

Mrs. Moores said there is still time for vendors to sign up. Other sponsors include Babies 'R' Us and WBBQ.
