Snapping it up
The Augusta Photography Festival workshop will be today through Sunday at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, 506 Telfair St., and in Columbia County.
Registration is open for workshops, field trips and lectures by award-winning photographers. Workshops are $10 each.

The Augusta State University Literacy Center offers free tutoring in any subject for school-age children from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the center, 1401 Magnolia Drive.
Tutoring is done by certified teachers, ASU teaching students and other community volunteers.

Auditions will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Fort Gordon Dinner Theatre, Building 32100 on Third Avenue, Fort Gordon, for the upcoming performance of Tamara Tudor's Snapshots by the Summer Youth Drama program.

The Richmond County Solid Waste Department is holding a Summer Neighborhood Cleanup during June.
The department will collect garbage, yard waste and recyclables if the following conditions are met:
- Garbage should be placed in boxes, bags, cans or other means to properly secure it, and should not exceed 50 pounds per container.
- Yard waste that has been placed in piles, bundles, marked, identified or open-top cans or in a kraft paper bag not exceeding 32 gallons. Yard waste cans, kraft bags or bundles exceeding 50 pounds and yard waste that has been placed in plastic bags exceeding 5 feet long or 5 inches in diameter will not be collected.
- No more than two tires, 17 inches or smaller, will be removed.

Benefit for pets
There will be a Dog Walk and Microchip Clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, to benefit homeless pets at the CSRA Humane Society Pet Center, 425 Wood St. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
Dogs must be at least 4 months old and current on vaccines.
Walkers can have their walk sponsored with donations to the shelter. The first 25 walkers who raise $50 in donations will get a T-shirt.
The Microchip Clinic will be held by appointment only, beginning at 9 a.m. The cost is $25. To schedule an appointment, call the shelter at (706) 261-7387.
A three-quarter scale traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Road, Friday, June 27, through Sunday, June 29. An opening ceremony will be at 9:30 a.m. June 27.
