Concerts With a Cause will present Emily Saliers, of the vocal duo the Indigo Girls, and her father, Methodist minister Don Saliers, in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. John United Methodist Church, 736 Greene St.
The Salierses will explore musical connections between the sacred and the secular in the performance, Saturday Night Meets Sunday Morning Music.

Music on Tuesday
American coloratura soprano Diane Penning and pianist Paul Bisaccia will perform at noon Tuesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Sixth and Reynolds streets, as part of the Tuesday's Music Live series. The concert is free. Lunch will be provided by Cindy's Catering and costs $7. Lunch reservations are required.

The 18th annual Winter Gathering of Writers will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, in 170 University Hall at Augusta State University, 2500 Walton Way. Novelist and editor Susan Mucha and radio host and entertainment critic Jackie Cooper will read original works. There will be a book-signing and reception after the readings; admission is free.
