Winter Jam

Theater festival

Fred Scott Giles will be the keynote speaker at Augusta State University's Theatre Festival at 5 p.m. today in the Jaguar Student Activities Center Coffeehouse, 2500 Walton Way. Dr. Giles, an associate professor of theater at the University of Georgia, will talk about theater in the 21st century.

A Festival of Plays, the first performance of the festival, which runs through Saturday, will begin at 8 p.m. today in the Grover C. Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre. Several short plays will be presented each night, followed by commentary by Dr. Giles. General admission is $5 nightly. Shag lessons

Carolina shag lessons will be held Thursdays beginning today at the Knights of Columbus, 1501 Monte Sano Ave. The beginners class will begin at 6:30 p.m., the intermediate class at 7:30 p.m. and the technique class at 8:30 p.m. The cost is $45 for four weeks. Call (706) 868-7798.

Stolen mule

40 Acres, Who Stole the Mule will be performed at 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday at Alexander Hall, Building 29805, Chamberlain Avenue, Fort Gordon.
