My name is Albert Ross Jr. I have been with The Augusta Chronicle since 1998. I worked as a copy clerk for two years before taking over the Richmond County Neighbors section.
I graduated from Gaithersburg High School in Gaithersburg, Md. I joined the Army shortly thereafter and spent 2 years in Hawaii.
I have family in Augusta, and decided to attend school here because it was cheap. I graduated from Augusta State with a B.A. in Communications/Journalism. In school, I took several film classes including screenwriting and film theory and criticism.
Film is something I enjoy very much. I would like to get involved in the filmmaking process - production, writing and directing. I think The Chronicle has given me the opportunity to write on a professional level and learn how to plan ahead for stories which will help in my future endeavors.
I am inspired by men like Gordon Parks, photojournalist from Time magazine, because he was a black man in a predominately white industry and he created a place for himself in it. He also made two great films, Shaft and The Learning Tree.
One day, I WILL be that good, or better.
