The North Augusta Sports Commission will honor five sports figures for their achievements on the field or on the sidelines with induction to the city's sports hall of fame.
The 2008 class inducted to the North Augusta Sports Hall of Fame comprises the following: retired pro football players Charlie Waters and Craig Baynham; former Furman University athletic director and N.C. State football coach Dick Sheridan; retired North Augusta High School principal and three-sport coach Ed Stillwell; and city councilwoman and longtime city recreation department volunteer coach Pat Carpenter.
The sports commission will hold a banquet and induction ceremony Jan. 26 at Grace United Methodist Church.
Sports Commission chairman John Felak said the board was "thrilled" by its third class of inductees.
"Collectively, these inductees continue our tradition of honoring successful people who call North Augusta home," Felak said. "They continue to inspire our community, and we are anxious to thank them for their efforts."
The dinner begins at 6 p.m., with the ceremony following at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $15.
