Column: Swamp life: Democrats, Republicans, team up to keep status quo

Congressional Republicans have been trying to give official control of both chambers to Democrats, but Democrats are too full of venom and vitriol to stay out of their own way in order to win by default next year.

All of the special elections because of Trump appointments, according to Democrats and the media experts who predicted a Clinton win then literally cried when she lost, were billed as a “referendum on Trump.” Democrats lost all of them.

Funny though, when Democrats suffered losses never before seen nationwide at the state and federal levels, they and the media (not to be redundant) denied loud and long that it had nothing to do with Barack Obama.

Scheduled elections this year caused Democrats and the media to crow about a Trump repudiation. Pause button, please. Democrats won the governorships in New Jersey and Virginia. Wow. Hillary won those states, and probably legitimately — even though a Democratic operative in Virginia was busted for registering dead persons to vote.

The Democrat was re-elected as New York’s mayor. Be still my heart. Was there ever a doubt? I believe Clinton carried New York City by a significant margin.

Back to the Republicans trying to give control to the Democrats.

For 84 months we heard the chorus of repeal and replace “Obamacare.” Fifty bills were sent to Obama’s desk that would have done just that. But Jan. 20, 2017, comes, and oopsie, we didn’t mean it. They never wanted it repealed and replaced. Their insurance company pals are exempt from anti-trust laws under “Obamacare,” which, think back now, is what got the insurance industry to support it before passing it so we can find out what’s in it.

This maniacal law may have been repealed had John McCain kept his word. But no. He and others are so full of hate for Trump that they would screw the country that they claim they love, rather than keep their promises that have been proven meaningless.

It’s called, “Cutting off the nose to spite the face,” and McCain, et al., are doing it, showing their worth. Democrats are, too. They know “Obamacare” is circling the drain. But, it’s Obama’s baby and they would rather it fail and fall, then blame Trump, than fix it.

Now we learn that Hillary Clinton is questioning the “legitimacy” of Trump’s victory that many called a surprise (I predicted 312 electoral votes for Trump).

Hillary cheated to “win” the Democratic primary. It’s proven fact. She entered the general election campaign with a dozen scandals out there that the media and the Obama administration tried to cover up, with no accomplishments in her 40-year public life to boast, and with a history of wickedness, abrasion, and incredulous escaping-responsibility tactics. Basically, she never was likable.

She and her media cohorts and congressional Democrats are beating the phony Russia drum. Barack Obama said a few weeks before the election, “There is no serious person out there who would suggest that you could even rig America’s elections. … There is no evidence that that has happened in the past, or that there are instances that that could happen this time… So I’d advise Mr. Trump to stop whining.”

Touché, sir. Since Clinton is entitled, she just won’t stop whining. She rigged the election, and, as Hitler’s PR guy said, “Accuse the other side of that which you are guilty.”

Trump created a commission to investigate voter fraud. However, Democrats and a few Republicans are fighting it tooth-and-nail. Why? What are they afraid of? He has nothing to hide, but apparently some folks do.

Since Trump’s win, many jobs have been created. Confidence on Wall Street is at record levels, even though it donated heavily to Hillary. We are experiencing 3 percent growth, something Obama said couldn’t be done. ISIS is being squashed. America is respected once again.

Three college students arrested in China who faced a decade in jail are now home after a week or so. Obama never did anything of the sort. Well, he did fight like the dickens to have a military deserter released in exchange for five terrorists, but other than that, nothing.

Donald Trump is our only hope, yet Democratic childish bitterness and hatred, coupled with the media’s proven lies, and Republican weakness and egos, are engaged in bipartisan efforts to keep things as they are. That swamp needs to be drained and replaced with fresh marine life.
