Letter: Electric Miller opening

I attended the Miller Gala Jan. 6 to celebrate the opening of the historic Miller Theater in downtown Augusta. This was a long time coming.

My classmates and I at Greenbrier High School organized a small benefit concert to raise awareness about the historical importance of the theater as a school project back in 2010. To see it finally lit up with a sold-out crowd was incredible.

Hats off to Symphony Orchestra Augusta, the Knox family, the new Miller Theater staff and all involved in making the restored Miller a reality. The restoration is superb, the 1940s Art Moderne theater is now state of the art, and the energy downtown was electric on its opening night. Augusta should be very proud. I can’t wait to see what’s next for downtown.
