Letter: Recognition long overdue

In response to Zia Rehman’s Letter to the Editor Dec. 28 (“Why provoke Muslim world?”), concerning President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the legal/legitimate capital of the state of Israel and to relocate the U.S. Embassy there:

It should have been done years ago when Israel recaptured Jerusalem.

The United Nations is nothing but a parasitic organization composed largely of self-serving bungling, pompous, bureaucrats filling their pockets at the expense of the taxpayers.

Zia Rehman speaks of the killing of thousands of Muslim women and children because of Israel. I read many of the world newspapers and find no reports of Israelis killing thousands of Muslim women and children. There are however, numerous reports of Boko Haram, Egyptian Muslims, Turkish Muslims, ISIS, and al-Qaida killing Nigerian, Coptic and Kurdish Christians, as well as Yesidis. Muslims are doing all this; not Israelis.

For Zia Rehman’s further information, although there are some cultural and religious similarities between Muslims and Israelis, they are definitely not the same, as Zia Rehman would have us believe. Any honest Muslim cleric, when not practicing “Taqiyyah,” will readily attest to the falsehood of Zia Rehman’s assertion that Muslim and Israeli culture and religion are the same.

President Trump was correct in recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. It was a move that was long overdue. God bless America and God bless President Trump.
