Letter: Guilty till proven innocent?

There is a foul smell coming from the cable news media these days that should be addressed.

There are numerous news reports of alleged sexual misconduct committed by our elected officials including our president, but they don’t include evidence — just hearsay.

As a former law enforcement officer, I would also like to know why many of the alleged complaints of decades ago were never brought to the attention of the law back then. I’ve heard the reasoning for not reporting the crimes committed, but that was a woman’s responsibility, contrary to their excuses.

As for the biased news media, it’s pretty much common knowledge that most of the national cable TV news stations with the exception of Fox News hates our president, his family and his administration with a passion. I recently saw an MSNBC news anchor disparaging our president and his wife and daughter, stating how disgusted she was with the wife and daughter for supporting President Trump. She adamantly stated that they should leave the White House.

Not only is this not reporting the news, this was a personal attack on the president and his family by another neurotic malcontent who refused to accept Hillary Clinton’s loss.

I find it unconscionable that the accused in this country are tried and convicted in the court of public opinion before they are given their rights to due process to defend themselves in a court of law.
