Letter: Man acquitted, city guilty

The reason the folks of San Francisco did not find Jose Ines Garcia Zarate guilty in the death of Kate Steinle is very obvious.

Garica Zarate, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, is a convicted felon who has been deported five times. At the time of Steinle’s killing in July 2015, he was wanted for a sixth deportation on felony drug charges – but the city of San Francisco refused to hold him for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.

Instead, San Francisco released a convicted felon and a few days later Kate, a beautiful young lady, was dead.

The reason the folks of San Francisco did not find Jose Ines Garcia Zarate guilty was because in doing so, these folks of San Francisco, the defense, the prosecution, the judge and the jury would have found themselves, the citizens of San Francisco, guilty of being an accessory in Kate’s death.

I hope when the citizens of San Francisco look into a mirror they see Kate Steinle’s face, because they are guilty in her death.
